Fast Electric RC cars Tires – Which type and compound is best

Tires is one of important part in fast electric rc cars, It’s plays important role especially when you are involve in an electric rc car race or competition. Before make a choice which compound should you use, you should consider a few things like track surface roughness and track surface temperature. This is important because performance of each compound will depend on type of track surface roughness and track surface temperature.

If track surface temperature is slightly hot or a bit rough, tires with hard compound are good while in cool surface temperature soft tires is the best. Although most of race track surface is similar, to make a right choice of tires compound is difficult.

Rc tires come in various sizes, are composed from various materials such as rubber and usually have foam inserts. HPI Racing has a large selection of high performance touring car tires for every street or track surface. Use the chart below to find the tire that meets your traction requirement.

B15-40 – Maximum grip, good life span.
Pro Compound – High grip, good life span.
Super Compound – Good grip, average life span.
M-Compound – Average grip, short life span.
20R and 23R – Cold whether surfaces, long life span.
27R – Warm whether surfaces, long life span.
33R – Hot whether surfaces, long life span.
35R – Very hot whether surfaces,

Most of tires now a day is belt type, HPI has developed belted tires to prevent the tire from expanding during acceleration. A strip of nylon belt inside tires make them very similar to full size of racing tires. Another benefit is that the contact patch doesn’t squirm as much during cornering. The result of the belt technology is more grip and much longer tires life.

Tires insert.
Most of best racing tires do not come with tire insert in the package. You need tire inserts so the tires do no lose their shape as the wheel rotates and the car is subjected to cornering force. There are three type of tire insert in the market, hard, medium and soft. If you have know nothing in choosing tire insert, you are advised to use medium for you tires insert.
